Privacy Policy

This policy explains what we do with the personal information you give us through this website. It is written to meet our obligations under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who we are

What we collect, and why

When you book your spot, we collect your name, phone number, email address, the date, time and size of your booking, and anything you tell us about allergies, accessibility needs or the occasion. We use it solely to manage your reservation, to contact you about it, and to cook safely around any allergies you have declared.

When you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, optional phone number and your message, and use them only to answer you.

We also record the IP address a submission came from. That is a security measure to limit spam and abuse of the forms.

Our legal basis

• Reservations: necessary to take steps at your request before providing a service.
• Enquiries: our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us.
• Allergy and dietary information: this is health data, so we rely on your explicit consent, given when you enter it into the form. We use it only to keep you safe.
• Spam prevention: our legitimate interest in keeping the site working.

Who we share it with

Nobody, other than the people who need it to run the restaurant. We do not sell your data, and we do not pass it to advertisers.

Your booking is stored on our web hosting with Hostinger and emailed to the restaurant's mailbox. Both act as our data processors.

How long we keep it

• Reservation records: 12 months, then deleted.
• Enquiries: 12 months after your query is resolved.
• Spam-prevention logs: 30 days.

Cookies and analytics

Strictly necessary. This site sets one PHP session cookie that keeps the booking and contact forms secure against request forgery. It contains no personal information and expires when you close your browser.

Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how many people visit the site and which pages they look at. It sets cookies in your browser and sends Google information about your visit, including your device, your approximate location and the pages you view. We use this to improve the website.

Advertising. We use Google Ads to measure how well our advertising works, for example whether someone who clicked an advert went on to book a table. This sets cookies that let Google recognise your browser across sites, and it may be used to show you our adverts again elsewhere on the internet. We do not sell your data to anyone.

We also use Google Tag Manager to load these tags. It does not collect anything by itself.

You can opt out of analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt out add on, and you can control advertising personalisation in Google My Ad Center. Blocking cookies for this site will not stop you booking a table.

Third parties. We embed a Google Map on the contact and home pages, and load fonts from Google Fonts. Google may set its own cookies and receives your IP address as part of those requests. See Google's privacy policy for what they do with it.

Your rights

You have the right to ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@desi-street-food.co.uk and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
